stupid

I fucking love retards making laws to restrict technology they have no clue about.

Here's how you get around this fortress of stupid:

Buy 5$ VPS in non-retarded country. (Hint, they have windmills and dams)
Setup DNS server on VPS
Connect though your new VPS.

Or, if that's to much, just open up your interweb settings and change the DNS server to one of the multitudes of free ones in non-opresseed countries, that's how I get around the Danish block of the pirate bay.

What exactly does it do?

The bill creates a blacklists of Internet domain names which the Attorney General can add to with a court order. Internet service providers, financial transaction providers, and online ad vendors (everyone from Comcast to PayPal to Google AdSense) would be required to block any domains on the list.

(The bill used to also have a second list that the AG could add to without a court order, but public pressure has gotten it removed.)

What kind of domains can go on the list?

The list is for domains "dedicated to infringing activity," which is defined very broadly — any site where counterfeit goods or copyrighted material are "central to the activity of the Internet site" would be blocked.

What's so bad about that?

Well, it means sites like YouTube could get censored in the US. Copyright holders like Viacom argue that copyrighted material is central to activity of YouTube. But under current US law, YouTube is perfectly legal as long as they take down copyrighted material when they're informed about it -- which is why Viacom lost their case in court. If this bill passes, Viacom doesn't even need to prove YouTube is doing anything illegal -- as long as they can persuade a court that enough other people are using it for copyright infringement, that's enough to get the whole site censored.
-->

Isn't the word censored a little overheated?

Not at all. In the US, the way things work is that if you're using the Internet to do something illegal, you're brought to court and the courts can shut you down. This bill would bypass that whole system by forcing Internet service providers to block access to sites that are otherwise up. People in other countries could still get to them, but Internet users in the US would be blocked. This kind of Internet censorship is exactly the sort of thing the US government has been criticizing China and Iran for -- just the other day, Obama told the UN that "We will support a free and open Internet." Now it turns out we're going to start censoring the Internet ourselves.

But it's just limited to copyright!

How long do you think that will last? Once the Attorney General has a system set up for censoring the Internet, everyone who has a problem with a website will want to get in on it. How long before it's expanded to block Wikileaks, pornography, gambling, anarchists, supposed terrorists, and anybody else the Attorney General doesn't like that day? If people are doing something illegal, the government should take them to court and shut them down -- not try to bypass due process by blocking their domain name.

Won't Internet users just work around the blacklist?

Yes -- at the cost of a major blow to the United States. Currently the United States is the global hub of Internet traffic, but if this law passes Internet traffic will be reconfigured to route around it. Companies will move their US servers and domain names overseas, Internet users will route their traffic through other countries (just like Chinese citizens have to do now!), and software will have to be reconfigured to no longer trust answers from American servers.

A recently proposed but little-noticed Senate bill would allow the federal government to shut down the Internet in times of declared emergency, and enables unprecedented federal oversight of private network administration.

Who the fuck comes up with shit like this? Uhhh?

Great idea numbskulls, there's a cyber-crisis (LOL) and you want to shut down the internet, effectively shutting down the economy of your whole damn country?

Like most people, whenever I need to figure something out I do some googlefu to see if someone else figured out what I need to know.

Then there's a fucking million "tutorial" sites that just lists a page from the application help page.

THE REASON I SEARCHED WAS TO FIND INFO, I CAN FUCKING HIT F1 TO GET THE STUPID HELP PAGE MYSELF ASSTARDS!

Sites like these are littering the search results, when I write a tuturial about something it's from my own experience and long and detailed and you know A TUTORIAL.

These sites needs to be fucking eradicated from google, it's to the point where you need to pull some serious googlefu to weed out all this shit and is takes ages.

Realy? Wizardry?

What the fuck is going on over there?

Piculas does a magic trick where a toothpick disappears and then reappears.

Piculas recently did the 30-second trick in front of a classroom at Rushe Middle School in Land 'O Lakes.

Piculas said he then got a call from the supervisor of teachers, saying he'd been accused of wizardry.

"I get a call the middle of the day from head of supervisor of substitute teachers. He says, 'Jim, we have a huge issue, you can't take any more assignments you need to come in right away,'" he said.

Piculas said he did not know of any other accusations that would have led to the action.

The teacher said he is concerned that the incident may prevent him from getting future jobs.

"The teacher said he is concerned that the incident may prevent him from getting future jobs."

Maybe they can throw him in a lake, just to prove that he isn't a wizard?

Yep, now they want it to be illigal to LOOK at children.

Surely this bill that's about as vague as can be, won't cause trouble, no sirree.

"That man looks like a creep officer, and he LOOKED at my child ARREST HIM NOW!"

Next up, thought crimes, making it illigal to THINK about children or be within 100 feet of a child, that will surely make them safe.

Oh wait, many of the crimes are committed by people in the family circle, well shit, but now we have some more stupid laws at least taking up resources that could be used to fight real crimes, but my illusion of safety is enhanced, so that's something.

What the shit is this shit?

In my world, it's our fucking DUTY to offend people that gets pissy about stupid shit like an image.

PIG PIG PIG PIG PIG YUM YUM PIG IS GOOOOOOOOD!

A story based on the Three Little Pigs has been turned down from a government agency's annual awards because the subject matter could offend Muslims. The digital book, re-telling the classic fairy tale, was rejected by judges who warned that "the use of pigs raises cultural issues.

Becta, the government's educational technology agency, is a leading partner in running the annual award. The judges also attacked Three Little Cowboy Builders for offending builders.

On my two new systems I have built in cardreaders, the new motherboards can boot from these so when you have the system setup with the OS installed the first harddrive will be H:\

Over 80% of all software is to fucking stupid to realise this, so they try to load config or grapics from c:\ and fails, either crashes right away or constantly throws up errors, or tries by default to save into c:\my documents\etc..

There's system libraries for windows development you fucking dolts, USE THEM, if you use the system libraries, they will automatically tell you where the root of the program is, and you can then load configs or whatever relative to that path. This was something I learned in windows programming courses the first week, the system libraries (Windows DLLS) are there to abstract function calls so you don't have to think (and fuck up) the underlying implementations.
