gamesBecause I fucking LOVE flying those choppers and wrecking havoc mwahahaha  it's been pretty banging so far, since it got online I had pretty much 64 players on there every night, it's absolute CHAOS with that many people. It's a practice server for newbies to learn to fly to because the choppers are beastly hard to control, but hey when theres 64 players it's pretty hard to control hehe so I just let people roll with it. Come join us if you have the game. Server address: 173.199.64.40:25200 I also have a private passworded 16 player server, so if you can't fly to save your life or want to practice a bit without getting shot at give me a shout and I'll pm you the password. I'm on a bit of a games binges lately, and since so many was raving about it I got "Just Cause 2" I was not getting it at first, it's a sandbox game of MASSIVE proportions and you get missions and bla bla bla the same old fps stuff, shoot bad guys complete objectives. But then I got it - you just have to be a massive asshole and it turns from a nice game to absolutely FABULOUS fun. There's the standard fps weapons, ton's of cars, planes, choppers, boats, rocket launchers, grenades and explosives. You can blow most things up and you get credits and money for causing chaos, the more the better. But then there's your grappling hook and your always available parachute. You can use the grapple to get around and up on anything, buildings, trees whatever. You can also use the grapple to hook something and then hook the other end to something else, anything else and that's where the fun begins. Wait for a car to speed by, hook it and then hook the other end to some hapless person walking by, hook one end to a chopper and the others to something explosive, like a car and use it to wreck destruction. You can also stunt jump on cars, pull the driver out and take it, then speed into a gas station, another car, buildings etc. and jump out and blow everything to hell. The indigenous people are hilarious when you cause mayhem, then run away screaming in terror or call you an asshole for bumping/stealing their cars. Nothing is more fun than grappling some poor guy and hooking it to your car and driving off while he screams "oh god help, heeeeelp meeee ahhhhhh" behind you while laughing like a maniac. You can also pull enemies from tall buildings so they plummet to their doom. At one point I had hooked some rubble onto my car and used it to fling some military police that was after me for being a dick into a gas station which then blew up raining cops and guts everywhere. You can also ride any vehicle by grappling them and standing on top, cars, planes fighter jets, then grapple other vehicles nearby, pull the driver out and take it over, then ram it into whoever is after you. There's also some great physics stuff. You can jump on say a gas bottle and shoot it and it will fly miles in the air and blow up, jump off just before it blows and hit your parachute and sail through the sky. Or just shoot it so it goes flying into a crowd of innocent bystanders. They fly totally randomly so you never know if it's going to fly into your face and what's gonna happen. The AI is hilariously stupid sometimes which just adds to the fun, I was battling with an attack chopper on a huge tower and jumped off with my parachute, it then proceeded to fly after me right into the tower and got stuck while the pilot spouted expletives at me stuck in a wall. Since the game is so advanced there's bound to be bugs, hillarious bugs that will have you laughing for hours. Basically the bigger asshole you can be the more fun it becomes, total chaos it's glorious Here's some clips to wet your appetite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFax81-9ddU Can anyone tell me why games are trying to cram as many camera effects into a scene as possible? Camera effects like motion blur and bloom are an artifact of the camera, lenses and sensor itself, it's NOT something you see in real life when walking around. I'm trying to immerse myself in a game, and every time those effects kick in I'm taken out of the experience, because it's so unnatural, I'm not in a movie, I'm looking out of my characters eyes. It's all "Ohh ahhh" look at what we can do now. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. How about you focus on gameplay and content instead? This game is SO over the top that you can't not have fun. Wanna club pedestrians with a giant purple dildo? Go right ahead Wanna play as a giant hot-dog with a cannon that sucks up hookers and shoots them at unsuspecting people exploding in a fabulous rain of gore? Then crawl into said cannon and shoot yourself into the sky and land with a parachute raining shotgun fire at anything that moves, including that guy dressed as a furry? No problem! Character creation is extremely advanced, you can create anything from a naked chick that looks exactly like any person you want, to a giant kitty or anything your imagination can come up with. You can also download other players creations. Gameplay footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN2-WSyRuO0 Character creation, some guy recreating Lara Croft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI0PvEJ8z7g Here she is in the game, you'd be hard pressed to know it's not actually Tomb Raider http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=BzMaB3B9h0E&lis... (You can play every character naked if you so choose, but sadly with the funny bits blurred) Then there's the taunts and moves. Moves can be strung together so you can make up entire dance moves with taunts, and of course save them and bind them to hotkeys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlXNxmXWL_M&feature=related How can you NOT want this game? Hell YEAH! Finally Sony got their fingers out. Sooo exited, finally gonna be driving my favorite Caterham 7. Carlist: http://www.gran-turismo.com/local/jp/data1/products/gt5/carlist_en.html Bit miffed Road Atlanta and Road America isn't in there, there's nothing better than taking "the kink" on Road America at 200mph in a Mosler MT900 knowing that taking the apex just 1cm wrong and you're dead. The kink has taken multiple lives IRL so far. Oh well I'll live, just that I had hundreds of hours in Forza3 on those 2 tracks and about 1 sec from world record on them Been playing this game for a while and it's without a doubt the best singleplayer rpg game I've played. Don't be put of by the RPG part, it's basically missions you can go on depending on the outcome of your actions. Each mission is like a putting the same characters into a whole FPS new style game, every mission is so different it may as well be a new game with the same mechanics. There's almost no grinding for stats, it's all worked into the missions seamlessly. Theres only mining planets for minerals that can get tedious, but you soon get enough that you don't need to do that anymore and then it's all awesomeness. Apart from that depending on playing as a male or female you pick up team members along the way, a couple of the opposite sex you can woo if you do the right things and get into their pants. If you happen to woo 2 girls for example they WILL find out sooner or later and bitch you out about it. If you go with one sooner or later you will have to choose and that will make the other one pretty much tell you to fuck off for the rest of the game. They also get into some pretty hillarious bitch fights over stupid shit that you have to break up, choose your words wisely when you do that hehe. Not enough? Well how about your captains chambers having a goddamn fishtank? If you buy fish for it on some mission from a wendor you get nice fishies to look at. Remember to feed the little bastards or one day you enter your room and they are floating at the top belly up From the start you can also customize your characters appearance, and I mean REALLY customize. For example who does this fellow remind you of?
Still working on my Picard character, it's getting there hehe. It's based on the Unreal 3 engine, I didn't think UE3 could look THIS good. Apart from the massive detailed vegetation it's up there with Crysis warhead. Sure shadows doesn't blur from start to end points and all that, but it looks fucking great for something made on the UE3 engine. The character and voice acting is also some of the best i've heard and seen in any game, no weak voice acting anywhere. Another thing is that it's also huge, with tons of shit to explore. I've clocked over 20 hours I think and I'm far from done. Oh yeah, one of the major characters is Martin fucking Sheen, booyah! Why the fuck can't you strafe while running? Apart from that I'm enjoying the shit out of this game. Not only the graphics, but the sound is awesome. There's this feature that if something loud goes off near you the sound is muffled like you got temporary ear damage and if it's realy loud like a grenade you get this ringing sound for a short while. Also playing crysis warhead, fuck me the graphics in that game is amazing. With the new HD5970 card I can play it at all settings to enthusiast and it's still smooth, it's gotta be seen to believe. Just got COD MW2 a couple of days ago and damn is this a good game. COD World at war was ok but got pretty meh after a while, just more of the same after a couple levels. MW2's single player is amazing. Constantly something new that keeps it fresh. I also like how it doesn't give a shit about being politically correct. Shoot up a couple hundred unarmed innocent civilian men woman and children? no problem, although it does nag you asking if you are real real sure you want to include that at install time. Heroes die etc.. love it. Get this game. Just got a copy of audiosurf, addicting little music based game. It's sort of like racing game meets advanced tetris. You pick your favorite music tracks, and the game decodes it into a roadmap. You are then placed on a psychedelic road that changes to the beat and intensity of the music, beats makes bumps in the road. Along the road are colored blocks that you can stack in a grid 8x8 grid, when more than 3 same colored blocks touches in any grid configuration you score points based on the colors. The larger clumps of colored blocks you make touch the higher the score you get. The warmer the colors of the blocks the higher the score for blocks of these, the warmer colored blocks comes in higher intensity in the upbeat parts of the tracks you play. There's other game modes, like you can pick up blocks and save for later, or you can move the whole grid to bump into blocks on the road instead of moving your car and lots of others I haven't gotten into yet. There's also bonus blocks, card blocks that will shuffle the colors in case you filled up the grid in a way that you are stuck. If you fill up one row with colors that you can't build 3's of you die and respawn. There's also gray blocks that takes points away if you hit them. Quite relaxing and addicting, or intense based on how you choose to play. Just got TombRaider Underworld and wow is all I can say. My system can handle it on high in 1920x1200 (Native res of my 24") and first there was the normal intro stuff with a bit of backstory, those are useually way way better looking than the game itself made by animators and not the game engine. Then nothing happened, she just stood there, I was like what? did the game lock up? No, there's torches burning and then it hit me, this IS the game. I've always used to joke with friends in past games with those overproduced cutscene movies between levels that there would come a day when the games would actually LOOK like that, this is the first time I was this impressed, the game looks like a damn movie. That Ass, titties and body needs this level of detail Dubbed the worlds most challenging puzzle. Read carefully, there's clues in both the text and images. I been on a "try lots of games" binge lately and found some realy great games that still holds up. Unreal of course, but I also tried Call of Duty 1 and 2 since I liked COD4 and if you haven't tried them they are great, especially COD2 is awesome and massively huge and you can probably get them for a couple bucks, well worth that. What I don't like about never games is that they are getting so fucking short, I haven't tried any new games that I didn't finish in a couple days, the look great but are to short. Honestly with COD1 and 2 I didn't even realy notice any bad aging, they both look great even today. Any other older games that you can recommend? I can't be the only one being feeling the Spore hype tug at my gaming strings, so let's discuss. One thing I haven't seen mentioned, but that would be extremely cool is your creature stats affecting the creature in the game. Examples: Evolve and build a creature that has predatory dinosaur eyes, then as long as another creature is standing still you won't see it. Your creature has little tiny legs, then you can't move fast so you have to work on evolving stealth or becomming more dangerous. Choose bad eyes and your hearing needs to be better, this should directly affect your screen, like being blurred or less bright, or if you select large nigh vision type eyes for nocturnal creatures then your screen should be uncomfortably bright so you need to seek shady areas and only be out at night. Choose cat eyes, no color vision but better motion detection and night vision. etc.. I know that if you behave violently and give your creature stats that points to aggresiveness then your fellow creatures will behave that way to. They will haze eachother, playfight and hit eachother in fun, hunt and use weapons more and so on. If you are a friendly creature then your fellow creatures will sit around and chat and be more intelligent in generel in the way they behave. If you are a pack creature then if you get into trouble your fellow creatures will help you out, if you are a loner type creature then you'r on your own if you get into a fight. Very fucking cool. Get the creature editor, it's miles of fun, the full version is only 10$ so you have something to play with while waiting. Even the free trial is tons of fun. Don't know what the hell Spore is? Living under a rock are we? Spore is a total universe creator. You start out making the primordial soup creature that you will evolve (Sorry fundies, guess you don't get to have fun ehehehe) After selecting some properties and graphically building your amoeba or whatever you spawn it and let it live. After a while, based on what it learns and what it can do with whatever stats you gave it you can upgrade. You get new building blocks of life, like arms legs eyes TONS of shit. Then after evolving your creature becomes sentient, also based on its past, it can build somewhere to live, find mates, form a tribe. It goes on to learn how to build cities, which you again build from various bulding blocks. Now it gets interesting, if it wasn't before, because the game is an massive online SINGLE player. Your planet is populated by creatures other people made on the fly and these can be friendly, hostile, may try to take over your creatures cities, or they may be friendly and you can develop trade with them. Now you can create vehicles, totalle free form like creating creatures and buildings so you can move around the planet. You can import buildings, vehicles and cities from other players around the world, or creatures and see what they came up with and base your game around that. Oh but it doens't stop there by a long shot. Now you evolve to be able to fly into space. And guess what, space is filled with planets that you can terraform and start new worlds. You can fly to your own planet and grab a creature from there, either your own or ones other people created and drop them on the planet you formed and see what happens. Planets can be land based or water worlds, you can make ocean creatures or land and flying creatures. Other planets in the universe are also loaded from other players worlds so you can fly there and make relations with those planets or take your creature there and see if it can take over. Oh you thought it stopped there, oh no, there's also galaxies, black holes and I don't know what the fuck else. Here's the official youtube channel with tons of videos from the devs showing of the game. http://www.youtube.com/user/Spore?ob=1 The full game is supposed to be out in about a month, and I can't WAIT. |
